MP backs biodiesel tax break project

Liberal Democrat MP Andrew George is backing a project to keep tax breaks for business who produce biodiesel.

Producers converting cooking oil into biodiesel currently benefit from a 20p differential but that is because of end next April.

The St Ives MP, who leads the Lib Dem Environment Team, has been fulfilling with the biodiesel alliance.

Mr George stated "a variety of small companies in Cornwall currently make cash from utilized cooking oil".

He added: "In order to be able to get this type of market going it does require simply a bit of lift which is available in the kind of tax foregone."

Biodiesel is a mix of traditional diesel, rapeseed and vegetable oils.
